Even as a schoolchild, I was remarkably creative because I “made” a lot of things myself that other children bought. With 4 children, we didn’t have everything we wanted. So, if at all possible, do it yourself:
-A pencil box with “tubes” of different heights, which I made out of “Zewa” and toilet paper rolls and beautiful wrapping paper. Even back then I liked uniqueness, because no one else had one like it. My friends also got copies, of course in different heights and with different paper around them… Everyone should have “their” pencil box 🙂
-The pencil case: 2x shapes cut out of an old leather skirt, edges glued, zipper…. Boy, did that go down well! Here again, I had something very special and unique….
Today I am often asked, “How do you come up with such ideas?
Well, just don’t distract your mind and let your thoughts run free about what’s on your mind, is the short answer.
My idea for the logo came about practically while I was cleaning….
One day I was mopping the floor, but in the wrong direction. The damp floor in front of me and the bedroom behind me. Now everything had to dry, so I went into the bedroom and lay down on the bed to wait.
And as I lay there, without distraction, because my cell phone was downstairs in the living room, I wondered, for some reason, if there is something that only one person in the whole world owns… I’m not talking about self-painted pictures of the children, which are certainly great and really unique…. I mean “something, FROM something”, but just unique….” “The same, but not the same…”
I then thought of the Nike Air sports shoe, for example, of which I also owned a pair. I had seen them on someone from time to time before. They were “in” and looked great. Back then, I also wanted to be one of those people who wore a shoe like that, which was totally modern and trendy, which everyone knew wasn’t a cheap shoe, but which I could afford and which was something special… When I got it and wore it straight away, I felt like I “belonged” somehow. But after a while, my shoes made me “disappear” after a short time. Too many people had shoes like that a little later. So I was just one of many people who wore the same shoe. The special feature was “gone” and the shoe became one of a few that I owned.
I was looking for something that was “recognizable on the street” because it was more common, but ALWAYS different. There were no NFTs back then, but I was already thinking along these lines… Nowadays, there are unique sneakers on the market for hundreds or even thousands of euros or dollars. But that only developed long after my own idea. (Yes, I’ve been working on making it “accessible” for everyone for a few years now…)
After some searching thoughts about it, the words Only / only one / and even “only one original” came to my mind…
“Of course there can’t be 2 originals of something!” That’s it! Everyone understands that! I was surprised at my own thoughts and was delighted. But what was I supposed to do with these thoughts and words? What was supposed to be so unique and “original”?
So I continued to ponder (by now the floors had long since dried and I was still lying on the bed) and eventually came to my second vision. The first letters of the words Only one Original would make 3 Os: OOO – I jumped up and created a logo out of it.
A few rough drawings (because I’m no good at drawing) and versions later, it was “born”! With the wording and the 3 Os it resulted in a beautiful image, which I created as the 1st logo.
How “Original” became “Owner” and how the fitting name “tri-o-logo” came about:
The thing that still bothered me was the word “Original” in “Only-one Original”. I found it very “hackneyed” (somehow it’s on so many things and clothes these days… where’s the special something? :-))
So I did some soul-searching and ZACK, I came up with the new word – “Owner”… it also made much more sense! 🙂
And now?
The logo was the same as it was before. My thought was to add a personal addition, and then it does differ! And this desired addition to the logo is the uniqueness, the personal, individual and special thing about it. Because this will only exist once in the world! Guaranteed by certificate! That’s how I wanted it and that’s how it should be!
After some back and forth about where the addition should go, I came up with a result that I and others liked.
The company name
The next question was about the company name… I thought a name of the same name was too long. This time it went on the couch 🙂 …. Relax and just brainstorm…. What does this logo have and what is it….. it has 3 Os and they make a logo…
in English…? No… in French? No… in Latin?… oh! that sounded good “tri” for 3, “O”-clear for the Os, and logo because it’s a logo. So:
“tri-o-logo” had been created! It couldn’t have been more fitting. And to be honest? I thought it was great! 🙂
Now “just” register the logo and I was and am the proud owner of what I think is a great word/image brand:
